The Strange Case Of Get-Trump Mania On The Internet
In recent months there has been an ever growing cacophony of groans and grunts on the inter-webs pertaining to President Trump. Any and everything is attributable to the American President and his purported machiavellian whims. A tree doesn’t fall in the Amazon without the evil huff and puff of the big bad American wolf. A tragedy in some hitherto unknown region, Trump is solely to blame. This has now become the reprise of the internet. An anthem for solace and the cathartic hymnal hummed by western liberals. One can’t have a brief soiree on the internet without many a recommendation section yelling out the latest seeming Trump faux pas. As this choir choruses together ever louder its cries have indeed become rather grating.

As with any American President, there is much to criticise and critique with the current inhabitant of the White House. This being said, the criticism and critique has to be rooted in honesty, not hysteria. Media Research Centre, a conservative American non-profit, has tracked coverage of President Trump to over 90% negative over the duration of his second term. A slight increment of the 89% negative coverage from his first term. In comparison, Mr. Biden, the former inhabitant of the White House had 59% negative coverage over his four year term. Either Trump is rotten through and through or there are some with nefarious agendas pushing negative coverage to drive narratives. Hardly is there any positive coverage of the American stalwart on the pages of corporate media outlets. Newscasters and commentators have found ways of wresting partisan drivel from even largely politically neutral subjects.
The tragedy of this ever present ominous coverage is that it consistently paints a bleak picture of the present especially amongst those still in the clutches of the mainstream media. As many seem to spend their lives online, they never have any cognitive dissonance as they experience reality, however distorted, via their screens. Forever drowning in oceans of misinformation unable to find safe harbour as their world is constantly on fire. Meanwhile, those on the safety of shore grow wearisome of the wilfully drowning. A growing apathy creating a permanent divide in the populace.

President Trump isn’t without fault. He has had various missteps and fallen into the trap of making numerous unforced errors: The ridiculous nonsense and fairytales repeated verbatim in regard to the Russia-Ukraine war, the mishandling of the Epstein situation, the bombing campaign on Iran’s nuclear power plants, the foreign policy mis-adventurism in Venezuela, seemingly laying the groundwork for the next regime change hoax and more. However, honest criticism can never break free from the wilderness of dishonest criticism. Perpetually being poached by partisan hacks to push agendas rather than pursue a better future for us all.
